Process
The SELA Cultural Center is a planned multi-arts space that blends world-class design and programming with the vibrant culture of Southeast Los Angeles. The advisory Panel will be meeting and supporting community engagement over the course of two-years from December 2024 through 2026. Below is a summary of the Panel’s overall process.
Throughout the process, there will be a variety of opportunities to stay involved with the Panel and learn more about the upcoming SELA Cultural Center. All Panel meetings are open to the public, and community members are encouraged to come and learn more, share public comments, and help shape future programming and operations. Phase 1: Panel Research
December 2024 to December 2025
- Establish an Advisory Panel Work Plan
- Establish a community engagement plan
- Conduct research and outreach activities
- Review cultural center models
- Share updates to inform the public about the Cultural Center
- Build partnerships
Phase 2: Operations and Plan Development
January 2026 to January 2027
- Establish an Advisory Panel Work Plan
- Review and synthesize community ideas, research, and stabilization framework
- Conduct ongoing outreach and engagement activities
- Continue to share updates to inform the public about the Cultural Center
- Continue building partnerships
- Draft and finalize the Recommended Operations Plan
