For generations and around the world, quilting has been an integral part of many cultures. Throughout Latin America, arpilleras from Chile and molas made in Panama and parts of Colombia tell stories of political resistance, culture and identity. Contemporary pieces like that of artist Sylvia Hernandez also capture moments of every day life, and many of us keep traditions of sewing and quilting from our own family members.
On August 9, we will be coming together to share a specify story – sharing what we envision for the SELA Cultural Center. Come show us what classes, workshops and gatherings do you want to see?
